HISTORY of the Hill
Situated in the picturesque and historic Monadnock region of southern New Hampshire, Carnival Hill Farm has a long, rich history. Surrounded by old apple orchards, and graced with a panoramic view, the property embodies a sense of a time long past.
The origin of the name is quite literal. A century ago, it was the site of an annual winter carnival, appeared in ¨Ripley's Believe It or Not¨ for a long-gone quarter mile toboggan run that passed through three towns, ending in Wilton. Rumor even has it that the Pony Express riders rested their horses here in the old carriage house!
Our history with Carnival Hill began in the summer of 2000. Employment opportunities prompted the move from Bragg Creek, Alberta to the Granite State. Although we had owned horses for many years, this was the first time we could keep them at home. Developing the property to accommodate our ¨hobby¨ has been a laborious but gratifying process. Tucked away in our little stable you can find our Dutch treasures. Please visit our other pages to learn about the inhabitants of the hill!
