Olympic Ferro was one of the best dressage stallions in the world, a huge contributor to both sport and breeding. Year after year, Olympic Ferro produced champions, and was a top progenitor of talented national and international sporthorses.
Ferro possessed an imposing appearance in the show ring, always garnering high scores for piaffe and passage. With rider Coby van Balen, he won team silver at the 1998 World Equestrian Games, silver at the 1999 European Championships and silver again at the 2000 Olympic Games. Ferro's career highlight was in 2000 when he placed second in the World Cup Finals in Hertogenbosch, having scored over 80% for the musical kur. Ferro is one of the KWPN's foundation stallions, having sired more than ten licensed sons, of which Kennedy, Metall, Rousseau, Rhodium and Negro are the most famous.
Although the sire of countless dressage horses. Ferro also showed a lot of jumping talent. As a 3-year old, Ferro was champion of his performance test at Ermelo. Ferro's sire, Ulft, was himself a son of the great Le Mexico. Le Mexico carried Furioso xx blood, which brings value to any pedigree. Ferro's dam, Brenda, was a daughter of the Holsteiner, Farn, sire of the legendary Nimmerdor.
